Health Through Nature and Sound

As part of our commitment to holistic wellbeing and regenerative living, Maia Earth itself serves as a space for rehabilitation and health rooted in simplicity, nutrition, sound, and nature connection. By offering an environment where individuals can slow down, reconnect with their bodies, and engage with the natural world, the center supports pathways to healing that are accessible, low-impact, and deeply restorative. Through plant-based nutrition, sound-based practices, and direct contact with land and ecosystems, we demonstrate how health can emerge from low-tech, community-informed, and ecologically aligned practices—offering an alternative model of care that honors both people and planet.

Sound and music are at the heart of our non-invasive, holistic approach to health—offering gentle yet powerful ways to support the nervous system and overall wellbeing. Through sound, we tap into the body’s innate capacity to regulate, release, and restore. Such method promotes deep relaxation, reduces stress, and helps harmonize the body’s internal rhythms without the need for pharmaceuticals or complex interventions. Moreover, rooted in ancestral knowledge and accessible materials, sound-based practices are low-cost, environmentally sustainable, and easily integrated into community health models—making them especially valuable in contexts where conventional healthcare is limited or inaccessible.

For more than a decade, we have been studying and conducting study processes on the effects of sound as a circadian entrainment technology that can be easily brought to various spaces into society as a valuable tool. Maia Earth, our mountain site, is also a training and retreat center for institutions and practitioners who wish to bring this technology forward. Our community has collaborated with schools, addiction centers, retreat centers, therapists and psychologists, doctors and companies across the globe.

Some of our recent collaborations:

  • Getting Out by Going In (GOGI) was granted 501(c)3 non-profit status in 2006, with a mission of sharing GOGI Life Tools with individuals and organizations interested in culture shift and sustainable change.

In California, VR programs are offering inmates in solitary confinement a window into new worlds—helping them process emotions, find relief, and reconnect with their humanity. The results? A 96% reduction in infractions and even the closure of some solitary units. A powerful reminder that when we engage the mind, transformation follows.

This is why we bring inner-GOGI-dance into prisons—an immersive, soul-stirring journey guided by sound and cognitive behavioural tools that activate the brain’s natural ability to generate inner imagery, much like VR but from within. No headset needed—just sound, breath, and surrender.

  • Wellnessland Urban Center and Wellnessland Wholeness Farm are holistic places for self transformation. By focusing on the shared vision to make health accessible and doable for anyone, Maia Earth and Wellnessland have been partners for many years, culminating in the arrival of Transformation Medicine, an approach to health that combines lifestyle, nutrition, nature and empowerment as key points for healing to happen.

With on-site and online programs that offer educational and healing support on the neuroscience of sleep coupled with the benefits of sound to regulate circadian rhythms, our community has been able to work closely with the patients and doctors of Wellnessland Center.

Our newest collaboration is the construction of a Natural Healing Center in Palawan, Philippines. The space is designed according to natural building and permaculture principles. Centering nature, education, and sound as primary healing modalities, it offers a space where individuals can access care that is both culturally resonant and ecologically grounded.

The center supports physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. It challenges extractive models of health by honoring low-cost, accessible, and non-invasive pathways to restoration—making healing not only possible, but deeply transformative for both individuals and the communities they belong to.

  • Maia Earth Organization is in deep collaboration with the Department of Education in the Philippines. Over the years, we have conducted sound experiences not only with students, but also teachers and officers.

Since 2023, we have been implementing the study of neurosciences, the benefits of sound to improve creativity and address emotional and psychological health of students within the curricular activities led by Bacungan National High School through MAPEH (Musical, Arts, Physical Education and Health) classes, which are part of the competencies required by the Department of Education.

With the Philippines having ranked 61st out of 64 in Creative Thinking in the latest results of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), our work, alongside with the element of Natural Building and Permaculture also implemented in the school through the construction of the classroom Bahay Pangarap, has been well received by the student body and authorities.

  • Laya Creative Hub is a purpose-driven initiative that empowers Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) through arts, crafts, and culture-based livelihood programs. Rooted in the principles of restorative justice and fueled by creativity, we believe in turning confinement into a canvas for change.

Through skills training, heritage craft revival, and long-term reintegration support, we provide PDLs with the tools to reclaim their stories, rebuild their futures, and re-enter society with dignity.

  • Hangberg Dreams is a non-profit organization focused on recovery from misuse, and other related problems.

Our community was able to conduct a pilot study on the effects of Sleep Playlists (soundtracks curated to be listened to while sleeping) and innerdance (sound and dialog circles) as a tool for recovery for those suffering from substance abuse/misuse and other related programs.
