Maia Earth Organization, Inc.

Founded in 2012, Maia Earth is a Philippine non-governmental organization dedicated to exploring how healthier relationships between people, place, and knowledge can contribute to more resilient communities. Rooted in whole systems thinking, our work brings together environmental stewardship, health, education, research, natural building, and community development through practical, place-based initiatives that respond to local contexts and evolve through collaboration.

Beginning as one of the Philippines' early ecovillage initiatives, Maia Earth has gradually grown into a network of partnerships spanning local communities, schools, government agencies, medical practitioners, researchers, civil society organizations, and indigenous partners. As the Asian representative to the Global Ecovillage Network and a co-founder of the Ecobrick movement in the Philippines, we have contributed to initiatives ranging from ecological restoration and circular resource systems to health education, natural building, and community-based research.

This experience led to the establishment of Maia Earth Organization Incorporated in 2022, providing a formal framework through which these long-term collaborations could continue to grow. Rather than developing isolated projects, we seek to cultivate relationships that allow ideas, knowledge, and practical solutions to emerge over time—always grounded in participation, local realities, and shared responsibility.

The power of Simplicity

Located in Palawan, one of the 7,641 islands in The Philippines, we run two different sites outside urban territory, abundant in natural waters, forests and mountain valleys.

Our facilities run on solar energy and rain water and we host practitioners from many fields and backgrounds who live sustainably in service to the local community.

Operating at local and global range, we are constantly building partnerships with government, private sectors and civil society so as to collaborate to the preservation of land and ecosystems of the island, as well as tend to the needs of its inhabitants.

Aside from home to our residents, Maia Earth is also a training center for Natural Building, Permaculture and Organic Agriculture, Transformation Medicine and Sound, as well as other areas that seem fit to explore when opportunities arise.
